Hello again! Almost a year later!!! No way to run a blog, you say, and I absolutely agree, but the past year has been filled to overflowing. This past week I have at least come up for a gulp of air, and my calendar ahead is showing enough little white spaces that I think it's safe for me now to vow to do better for the rest of 2018 and on into 2019!
When I sat down at my laptop this morning I had the uneasy sense that in my last post (October, 2017!!) I had left off just before (and about time!) coming full circle in the "tl!" story of "How I Came to Write Beneath the Hill." And I had. So, in a nutshell, to save you having to backtrack, too:
I had rediscovered The Enchanted Castle, E. Nesbit's fantastic tale about (among other cool things) four children who encounter mythical beings from the past. I found it every bit as exciting as it had been in fifth grade!
And that, at last, gave me another stepping stone:
(1) a farm... very like our own Pennsylvania farm… threatened by strip mining…
(2) four-- no-- five children...
(3) who encounter mythical beings out of the past...
"Mythical beings out of the past"? Yes, yes!, but beware: not a remotely E. Nesbit-ish fantasy. Instead, something Old World/New World...
Then, again, a blank. But now a hopeful one.
(To be continued tomorrow; the phone is ringing off the wall. Really.)
Abáloc-- and this and my other worlds...
Meanwhile, Back on the Farm...
